After completing this course, the clinician will be able to: 1. Discuss the clinical study of grief from classical to modern times. 2. Identify emotional, cognitive, behavioral, social, and physical responses to loss. 3. Describe resilience to loss and explain what may increase the likelihood of this response. 4. Discuss the role of grief counseling and when it may be useful. 5. Describe an intervention model for dealing with loss and grief. 6. Explain the differences between normal and complicated grief. 7. Discuss the treatment of grief in children and adolescents.
