Emerging Trends and Challenges in Global Health

Course overview

When considering global health we must remember that many interconnected systems contribute to health equity or inequality including the environment and climate economics class or social position and urbanisation. This course uses the various lenses of global health discussed in the Overview of Global Health course to explore some of the emerging trends and most pressing issues in this field of health. You will gain insight into the importance of adopting systems thinking to understand the driving forces behind health burdens and inequities. You will also be encouraged to engage in the process of unlearning and relearning global health trends discourses and paradigms that connect health and non-health sectors. This course aims to introduce and unpack key emerging trends and issues in global health focusing on the burden of non-communicable diseases modifiable risk factors climate change and the role of rehabilitation professionals within these emerging trends.
