Course overview

Binge eating disorder (BED) affects five times more people than all other eating disorders combined. Clients with binge eating present with almost every clinical diagnosis, including depression, anxiety disorders, Axis II disorders, SUDs and many more. No matter your clinical specialty, you will see clients who struggle with binge eating. Binge eating is also highly correlated with trauma; if you are treating BED, you need to know how trauma impacts your client's relationship with food, and do-no-harm interventions needed to heal. BED can be very challenging to treat; it requires a unique toolkit that is different from other eating disorders. In this program, led by an internationally known BED thought leader with 35 years of clinical experience, you will explore why binge eating develops in the face of traumatic experience, how dieting, weight stigma and body image impact the disorder, and what fundamental changes need to happen in client's relationships with food and their bodies to create deeper and more resilient recovery.
