Course overview

In part 1 of the Medication Access Treatment Expansion (MATE) training, the clinician will understand the pain response, types of pain, and the use of peripheral and central acting agents to treat those in pain. The practitioner will learn the mechanism of action of opioids and non-opioid therapies to understand their use and the CDC guidelines for pain management. Finally, the clinician will learn treatment options for opioid addiction with FDA approved medications: buprenorphine, methadone, and naltrexone.
