Course overview

Rheumatology conditions commonly masquerade as musculoskeletal presentations and conditions and as a result knowledge of how to recognise these conditions is a vital line of clinical reasoning for Physiotherapists. These conditions must be referred to Rheumatology for diagnosis and medical management immediately as delays to diagnosis have serious implications on long term outcomes. Treatment of these conditions requires confidence and the ability to reassure patients that they can safely participate in exercise programs to improve function, cardiovascular fitness and strength.
