Course overview

Both mentors and new counselors will be able to define what mentoring means in their role as navy Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program (SARP) counselors. By identifying their preferred learning style as visual, auditory, or kenesthetic;, they will be able to set goals for themselves with three objectives--one for visual learners, one for auditory learners and one for kinesthetic learners. They will practice writing three objectives for that goal:-, one that addresses each leaning style preference. By being aware of differing learning styles, mentors can assist new counselors in their orientation to the navy system and to the field of substance abuse disorder counseling. Participants will be able to construct goals and objectives for their Individual Development Plans.
