Course overview

The training activities consist of three 4-hour sessions that will be conducted over three days. These live virtual training workshops will include the use of didactic material, the treatment manuals, and the presentation of videotaped sessions from our previous clients. As is typical of in-person training, role play will be used as permitted by the size of the group. This format of training has been utilized successfully in our family training efforts over many years. The family therapy competencies and CIFFTA training cover five modules: 1) System Conceptualization of adolescents and their families 2) Engagement of the family and the adolescent, including reluctant family members 3) Motivational Enhancement for youth and families 4) Modifying maladaptive family interactions 5) Tailoring Treatment. Our focus is on core Commission on Accreditation for MFT Education and CIFFTA competencies. Reach out to Amber Thomas-Gordon (amber@tiainternational.org) for dates of training.
