Course overview

Navigating the physical boundaries and ethics of touch between a massage therapist and their client can be delicate. In the massage therapy profession, codes of ethics guide appropriate behavior in professional and therapeutic relationships. The actions and behaviors of therapists significantly impact their clients, co-workers, families, employers, and the community. Therapists must continually evaluate whose interests are being served and whose may be harmed. While basic standards are set through a code of ethics, the primary focus is always the safety and well-being of the client. Establishing and maintaining respectful boundaries, building rapport, and having open communication and trust between therapist and client are essential for creating and maintaining a safe and effective partnership and environment. This is a fun class about very serious things! Join us for a four-hour course that addresses these critical issues through engaging discussions, storytelling, role-playing, problem-solving, and boundary-setting exercises.
