Course overview

Module 1: Introduction to tactical personnel This module will introduce you to tactical personnel. Differences between tactical personnel and athletes will be explored as will the different tactical occupations. Module 2: Injuries in Tactical Personnel This module aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to identify injuries specific to tactical workplaces and explains how different demands are needed of these individuals even within the same tactical unit due to the variety of daily tasks they perform. We also discuss the issue of underreporting in this population based on the nature of the individuals and how we can try address this within a Physiotherapy consultation. Module 3: Occupational load carriage: A fundamental task Load carriage is a fundamental aspect of many tactical occupations, demanding physical endurance, resilience, and strategic preparation. In this module we explore the history, requirements, and conditioning strategies related to load carriage in various tactical occupations. Participants will gain insights into the evolution of load carriage practices, analyse the similarities and differences across different tactical professions, and learn to design effective conditioning programs tailored to the unique demands of each occupation. Module 4: Fitness and fitness testing for tactical personnel This module will help participants understand the intricate relationship between fitness components and task performance is essential for designing effective conditioning and return-to-work programs tailored to the unique needs of tactical professionals. Through a blend of theoretical insights, practical demonstrations, and case studies, participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of how to optimise fitness programs to enhance performance and facilitate successful return-to-work transitions for tactical professionals.
