Course overview

This is a 3-contact hour continuing education program with the following topics: Charity Care: Creating Impact and Influence with the 2 sub-topics: (a) Making a Difference in the Maritime Industry [1.5 contact hours]; and (b) Making a Difference in the Uninsured in Duval County [1.5 contact hours]. Topic 1: Making a Difference in the Maritime Industry Dr. Duellyn Pandis. Discuss the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs) the key targets and indicators as they relate to the Maritime Industry using the University of South Florida (USF) Health College of Nursing Seafarers Center Clinic as an exemplar. Learning Objectives: 1. Discuss United Nations (UN)Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDG) as it relates to the Maritime Industry. 2. Describe Key Targets and Indicators for SDG that pertain to Maritime Industry 3. Recognize how USF Health College of Nursing Seafarers Center Clinic addresses the SDGs. Topic 2: Making a Difference in the Uninsured in Duval County by NP Jusil Rice. Discuss Charity Care in the US and Florida and use the PNA Northeast Florida Volunteer Clinic that serves the uninsured in Duval County as an exemplar. Learning Objectives: 1. Define Charity Care in the United States and its impact to healthcare organizations. 2. Discuss Charity Care pertinent to the State of Florida. 3. Explore Volunteerism and how it influences the launching of PNA Northeast Florida Volunteer Clinic to serve the uninsured in Duval County.
