Course overview
Within the aging population there are many health-related issues that affect women. Many of these could possibly be minimized or prevented with the right interventions. If we as clinicians can provide education and interventions to patients, friends and caregivers regarding these issues, we can improve the quality of life in this population of aging adults. This course will provide an in-depth education on various health-related issues including osteoporosis, fractures, falls, incontinence, heart disease, depression, Alzheimer's Disease, and more that are prevalent in aging women. This course will look at the lifespan of a woman and how various physical/hormonal changes, emotional aspects, and stages of life (pregnancy, being a caregiver, menopause) can greatly affect health and the aging experience. After this course clinicians will be well-equipped to address issues in aging women with various interventions, exercises, and education.
