The article presents a cluster-randomized trial evaluating the effectiveness of three formats for delivering Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) to significant others (CSOs) of individuals with alcohol use disorder (AUD) who are reluctant to seek treatment. Conducted in 18 public treatment centers in Denmark, the study compared group sessions, individual sessions, and a self-administered format (control group). The primary outcome measured was the treatment engagement of the identified patient (IP) after three months. Results indicated that while there were some improvements among CSOs receiving CRAFT in group and individual formats, the differences in treatment engagement were not statistically significant when compared to the control group. The study suggests that offering a combination of individual and group sessions may enhance engagement, but further research is necessary to confirm these findings in diverse settings.
