Simply Sensory Processing Modules are a collection of 4 self-paced, online learning, introductory courses. Each module consists of learning through a PowerPoint presentation by Kareen Robbins. Kareen is a pediatric occupational therapist who has worked with children and sensory integration for 35 years. Following the presentation, you will be directed to a short quiz, when you complete all 4 modules you will receive a certificate of completion for 4 contact hours. You will have access to the course materials and resources for 180 days from the date of enrollment. The course is 5.5 hours or 0.55 CEUs Module 1: Sensory Processing Foundations Module 2: Universal Sensory Processing Strategies for Optimal Learning of ALL Children (Learning Styles, Behavior, Attention, and Literacy & Language) Module 3: Sensory Processing Dysfunctions and Common Strategies: Sensory Reactivity and Sensory Modulation Module 4: Sensory Processing Dysfunctions and Common Strategies: Sensory Perception, Dyspraxia, and Ocular, Postural, & Bilateral Integration Disorder Learning Objectives 1. Define sensory processing and foundational components for typical sensory processing. 2. Recognize common characteristics of sensory dysfunction and the effects on academic, social-emotional, behavioral, and motor performance in the classroom. 3. Implement common sensory strategies to address specific sensory processing dysfunction in the classroom. 4. Identify Universal Classroom Sensory Processing Strategies for Optimal Learning for ALL Students a. Identify how attention and learning are dependent on sensory functioning in the classroom. b. Identify the differences between motivational behavioral and sensory processing dysfunction. c. Describe the difference between sensory and emotional regulation. d. Describe how sensory functioning impacts language and literacy skills.
