Course overview

Early attachment with ones primary caregivers lays the foundation for not only ones future relationships but also ones overall sense of safety and security in the world. When attachment patterns are disrupted during childhood through dysfunctional parenting dynamics or the experience of trauma, the potential impact can be severe and pervasive. This course will examine the potential impact of disrupted attachment by focusing on attachment disorders as well as other types of disorders that relate to a persons attachment history. You will learn the symptoms of these disorders, factors that affect the risk and prognosis associated with them, and interventions you can use to effectively support your clients who may be affected by these disorders.
