Can students' sensory needs be met in the general education classroom without frequent trips to the hallway or needing one-on-one time with an aide? Our own research, along with an ever-growing evidence base, shows that a classroom-based approach is not only possible but highly effective! In this 2-hour, view-on-demand, recorded webinar , you discover how to easily implement this approach in your own classroom or in the classrooms of the schools you serve as a therapist. At the end of this course, you will be able to (1) identify the roles of brain breaks and sensory breaks. (2) state the appropriate modifications based on assessment results for individual students, (3) list the roles of the teacher role vs. the roles of the therapist in the classroom, (4) identify resources for teaching self-modulation to students, and (5) State target behaviors most likely to be impacted using this evidence-based classroom intervention. This distance-learning, independent format is offered at 0.2 CEUs, Introductory Level, OT Service Delivery, and targeted to introductory- to advanced-level OTs, PTs, teachers, and other professionals working in the classroom setting. The course instructor, Gwen Wild, MOT, OTR/L, is an experienced occupational therapist specializing in the treatment of children and adolescents diagnosed with autism and sensory processing disorders. Gwen is the creator of BrainWorks sensory diet tools. For more information on our recorded courses, visit our website: https://www.sensationalbrain.com/product-cagtegory/ceu/on-demand webinars.
