Learn moreCourse overview
Fat-soluble vitamin toxicoses are uncommon in a clinical setting. However, these vitamins should always remain on the differential list dependent on patient history or presentation due to their metabolic functionality and possible extremely severe or even deadly consequences if consumed in toxic concentrations. Vitamin A and Vitamin D in particular pose more health risks than other vitamins. These two vitamins will be discussed in depth, reviewing their metabolism, concerns associated with acute or chronic toxic concentration risks, and nutritional interventions. Over-the-counter supplements intended for humans and/or animals will be covered in detail due to these products being a source of possible exposure to these nutrients.
