Course overview

Case Studies in Chronic Pain will describe the optimal management of a chronic pain patient. The course will use the latest research and data to support the effectiveness of using a biopsychosocial model and plan of care. It will include understanding cognitive behavioral strategies, interventions, and goal planning with the patient using smart goal methodology. The course will offer implementation recommendations for the clinician and staff to build a positive support environment for the chronic pain patient. EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES Upon completion of this seminar, participants are expected to be able to: 1. Understand the biopsychosocial model of care 2. Understand the cognitive behavioral interventions and goal planning 3. Understand the guidelines for the management of the chronic pain patient DESCRIPTION OF TEACHING METHODS USED Instructor will teach via lecture and the visual aid of slides. Examples will be discussed for demonstrative purposes. This seminar/course will utilize Recorded video (54 min) Supplemental Materials - Resources to review (20 min) including Financial Hardship Policy, Handouts (2) to be used in assessing practice for compliance. Online quiz will be given in order to ensure the educational objects were successfully met.
