Course overview
Identifying Discrimination and Disparities course will describe the principles of the vulnerable patient population including the socioeconomic disparities that may drive the vulnerability. The course will use the latest research and data to support the roots of health care disparities and how subconscious bias may play a role in a clinician and practice staff mind. The course will describe the principles and evidenced-based practices of using shared decision making (SDM). The course will use the latest research and data to support the effectiveness of using SDM as a way to engage patients as active participants in their healthcare. The course will include an example of a clinical code of ethics and patient rights and responsibilities and how to implement them into practice.
