Manual Acupuncture for Chemotherapy Induced Peripheral Neuropathy

Course overview

Chemotherapy induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is commonly referred to as a "dose limiting" side effect of chemotherapy because the PN pain, numbness and loss of fine motor skills can be so severe that the dosage of chemotherapy is often reduced or even suspended to try to ease those symptoms. CIPN symptoms are due to the nerve damage chemotherapy causes that have long been considered irreversible. In this course, we will review the large body of evidence showing that acupuncture can spark neuroregeneration and review the points used in successful acupuncture research. You will also learn the critical details of effective treatment dosage and manual acupuncture needle stimulation techniques. You will be able to apply this science-backed knowledge in the clinic upon completing this course. We will also review the Acupuncture Now Foundations campaign to raise awareness that acupuncture should be seen as a front-line treatment for peripheral neuropathy.
