Clinical Techniques II

Course overview

This secondary level of the clinical techniques course is designed to equip veterinary technicians and assistants with the knowledge and skills necessary to perform laboratory procedures. Learners will develop an understanding of blood smear preparation and analysis, including red blood cell morphology, white blood cell differential counts, and platelet estimation. Additionally, the course will cover hematology, focusing on complete blood counts and their clinical significance. Techniques for determining total solids, including packed cell volume and total protein, will be explored. The importance of ear cytology in diagnosing ear infections will be emphasized, along with microscopic examination. Learners will also gain an understanding of how to perform urinalysis, including physical, chemical, and microscopic examination of urine samples. Blood chemistry analysis, covering a range of biochemical tests, will be discussed, and the interpretation of results will be highlighted. Finally, the course will delve into fecal analysis, including parasite identification and fecal flotation techniques.
