Course overview

As with people, pets suffer from being overweight and obese. Increased body weight leading to obesity causes decreased quality of life and increased risk for comorbidities. Given the occurrence of obesity in our companion animal patients, primary care veterinary professionals are faced increasingly with having to manage obesity as an additional consideration when providing care. In this course veterinary professionals gain unique perspectives from veterinary technician specialists about their top concerns and considerations when providing care to an overweight or obese patient. Understanding others' unique perspectives can improve the overall care veterinary professionals provide for their patients.
