Course overview

November 7, 2025 12:30-3:45 PM EST Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) was originally developed as a treatment for borderline personality disorder. However, DBT skills and techniques are simple enough to be integrated into general practice for a variety of presenting concerns and clients. In this presentation, Dr. Charles Jacob will provide a brief review of DBT basics, with a particular focus on utilizing specific coping skills (TIP, DEAR MAN, etc.) as a clinician in private practice. The seminar will first provide an overview of DBT concepts, followed by a review of general client presenting concerns in outpatient private practice (eg, anxiety, depression, trauma), and discussion of techniques for working skills into session content.
