Course overview

This module will serve as an introduction to phlebotomy, with the goal of furthering your knowledge and skills on your journey as a phlebotomist. Information related to collection devices, an explanation of the types of equipment, and the situation for which each should be used will be explored. An in-depth look at the collection tubes, inversions, additives, and the recommended order of draw will be reviewed. In addition, general specimen labeling requirements and a summary of key phlebotomy terminology will be shared. Learning Objectives: 1. Recognize the collection tubes, their additives, and end products after processing. 2. Review the recommended order of draw. 3. Examine the anatomy of the arm, including site selection. 4. Identify the types of equipment used in the phlebotomy process, and the situations in which they should be used
