Course overview

This module will include the fundamentals of phlebotomy, with the goal of furthering your knowledge and skills on your journey as a phlebotomist. An in-depth look at the patient experience, patient privacy, and the inpatient and outpatient identification process will be reviewed. In addition, the legal considerations that a phlebotomist needs to be aware of and a summary of key phlebotomy terminology will be shared. Learning Objectives: 1. Describe how the patient experience impacts quality of care and the patient's perception of care. 2. List the critical steps that ensures accurate patient identification in the inpatient and outpatient settings. 3. Recognize the essential importance for a phlebotomist to safeguard a patient's privacy. 4. Identify legal considerations, expectations, and responsibilities for phlebotomists.
