Course overview

This module will cover an overview of phlebotomy techniques for pediatric and geriatric patients who often present as unique challenges due to their physiological and anatomical differences. We will also cover capillary collections and methods that will optimize success with difficult draws to enhance patient comfort and quality of care. Learning Objectives: 1. Recognize the specific concerns, procedures, and techniques involved in pediatric phlebotomy. 2. Describe the unique needs, procedural considerations, and techniques for geriatric patients. 3. Identify the strategies for difficult draws to be successful in difficult situations. 4. Explain the capillary collections process for situations where appropriate.
