This study, titled "Reconsidering the roots, structure, and implications of gambling motives: An integrative approach," examines the multifaceted motives driving gambling behaviors among regular and disordered gamblers. Using a data-driven methodology, the research identifies four primary factors--Social, Financial, Fun/Thrill, and Affect Regulation--contributing to gambling behavior. Additionally, the study explores the role of Behavioral Activation/Inhibition Systems (BAS/BIS) in moderating these motives and their relationship with gambling severity and frequency, providing insights into targeted interventions and the development of a brief Gambling Motives Inventory (bGMI) for Spanish speakers.
