Description of CE hours and outline This is a manual fascial techniques course for massage therapists. Learning fascial techniques and proper body mechanics, while cultivating mindfulness with breath. This course teaches the participants specific body mechanics for fascial or DRY work utilizing gravity by leaning into the work with core and spinal stability in their own bodies. Myofascial hands-on techniques will address adhesions and restrictions in the soft tissue of the client. This style of work teaches the massage therapists how to conserve energy and remain focused on task at hand while using safe body mechanics and is within the scope of practice for massage therapists. This is an in-person Continuing Education Course. The course outline is as follows: 9AM-10:00AM Lecture: A history of myofascial and fascial bodywork, Safe techniques instructions, positioning, Theory and anatomy, Contraindications/cautions 10:00AM-10:30AM - Instructor demonstration myofascial techniques and assessments, Supine position abdomen, chest band, sternum, clavicles and, shoulder, anatomy and technique, functional and postural assessments 10:30AM 11:30PM Lab, Student practice with hands-on applications 11:30AM 12:00PM Instructor demonstration: Prone and seated position: Back, gluteals, shoulders - anatomy and technique, functional and postural assessments 12:00PM-1:00PM Lab, Student practice with hands-on applications and Conclusion, review, and questions Learning objectives and outcome OUTCOME: Students of this in-person CE course will learn a basic introduction to Synergetic Myofascial techniques and safe body mechanics to improve posture, breath and functional movement of the whole body. The following learning objectives (4) will help students achieve this learning outcome. OBJECTIVES: 1. Students will demonstrate how to scoop (connect and lift) the fascia and use their body properly to prevent overuse injury and demonstrate 10 safe manual fascial techniques in the supine, prone and seated position. 2. Students will define myofascia and differentiate between 1. the core or deep and 2. the superficial or sleeve of fascia. 3. Students will list 5 cautions and contraindications of myofascial work. 4. Students will demonstrate safe use of 1. forearm, 2. elbow, 3. soft fist, fingers, 4. Knuckles, and 5. palm.
