Course overview

The objectives of the course are to educate licensees on key concepts in the following foundational topic areas where agents need to be well-versed to properly represent their clients: Agency: Understand agency disclosure, relationships, and duties of confidentiality. Listings: Understand who needs to sign listing agreements based on legal ownership, how to determine legal ownership, and property disclosure requirements. Contracts: Understand the meaning of "time is of the essence," contingencies, when a contract becomes binding, agency responsibilities, and MREC rules regarding advertising and exclusive agency agreements. Title and Closing: Understand the purpose of title examination, items that need to be addressed at or before closing, and an explanation of warranty deeds. CFPB: Understand CFPB jurisdiction and the key components of the integrated disclosure rule effective October 3, 2015. Regulatory: Understand the impact of lead paint legislation, RESPA, and lending on licensees. Considerations when purchasing real estate in a trust.
