Strategies for Transitioning People with Mental and/or SU Disorders from Correctional Settings into the Community (OH)

Course overview

Students will learn about evidence-based practice for transitioning people with mental and/or substance use disorders from correctional settings into the community; describe, discuss, and analyze the reasons why individuals with mental and substance use disorders are less likely to make bail, have longer jail stays, and serve time in segregation during incarceration; and recognize how lack of access to medication, employment, housing, food, social supports, and health care can produce poor outcomes for many people who find themselves caught up in a revolving cycle of jail admissions and releases.
