This program is designed to build upon the principles and strategies pertaining to aligning the torso in the sagittal plane. After addressing the torso, the focus of this program is on identifying and addressing factors at the hip joint and femur that can contribute to altered foot progression angle (FPA) in walking. Participants learn to execute precisely three musculoskeletal assessment procedures undertaken to quantify hip medial and lateral rotation range of motion (ROM) and femoral torsion. The assessments, undertaken before and periodically after introducing TheraTogs, provide objective data that can be considered in planning safe long-term management and that reveals changes in status. These findings are brought to management planning involving the safe use of hip rotation strapping applications designed to optimize the functioning alignment of the musculature around the hip and the orientation of the knee joint in gait. Participants undertake supervised strapping applications addressing persistent pelvic retraction, intoed and out-toed gait, and stance-phase hip stability. Participants receive an illustrated handout and are graded on all assessment, garment donning and strapping procedures.
