Educational Objectives: After completing this activity, learners will be able to: 1. Understand the pathophysiology of sepsis and septic shock, including the roles of inflammation, coagulation, and tissue hypoperfusion in organ dysfunction. 2. Recognize the clinical signs, symptoms, and diagnostic criteria for early identification and management of sepsis. 3. Develop competency in selecting and administering appropriate antimicrobial therapies, including initial broad-spectrum antibiotics and subsequent de-escalation based on culture results. 4. Implement evidence-based approaches to fluid resuscitation, vasopressor use, and other hemodynamic support measures to stabilize septic patients. 5. Apply strategies for source control, stress ulcer prophylaxis, and adjunctive therapies while balancing the prevention of complications and treatment toxicity.
