Educational Objectives: After completing this activity, learners will be able to: 1. Understand the pathophysiology, progression, and complications of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) and End-Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD), including key risk factors and the impact of comorbidities such as diabetes and hypertension. 2. Analyze diagnostic tools, screening methods, and clinical markers for early CKD progression detection and monitoring, including GFR estimation, proteinuria assessment, and imaging studies. 3. Evaluate nonpharmacologic and pharmacologic treatment strategies for CKD management, focusing on controlling blood pressure, reducing proteinuria, managing electrolyte imbalances, and preventing complications such as anemia, metabolic bone disease, and cardiovascular events. 4. Compare renal replacement therapy options, including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and kidney transplantation, outlining their principles, indications, advantages, disadvantages, and associated complications. 5. Develop a comprehensive approach to managing complications associated with dialysis, such as hypotension, infections, thrombosis, and vitamin depletion, emphasizing preventive measures, treatment strategies, and monitoring outcomes.
