Stroke rehabilitation has undergone a tremendous evolution over the past 20+ years. Understanding how we got to where we are, as well as what the latest developments tell us about the current and future directions of our field can inform us on how to think about why certain interventions work well while others never seem to be fruitful. The latest research in motor learning and neuroscience continue to open our eyes to the power of not just what we do, but how we and the patient do it. This can greatly impact outcomes and make the limited resource of therapy time much more beneficial. Attendees to this course will gain a better knowledge of the current state of neurorehabilitation and use this to reenergize and reevaluate their thought processes and ideas about their approach to therapy for patients with stroke with these exciting evidence-based concepts. They should also be able to take information from this course to advance their practice creatively with innovation and up-to-date knowledge.
