Course overview

Rehabilitation clinicians are presented with numerous clinical treatment paradigms for patients post-stroke but determining which are the most effective and efficient is far more challenging. Recognizing the importance of motor learning and recovery post-stroke is one of the most essential components to effective stroke rehab across all levels of care. By analyzing and applying the science and most up to date research behind motor learning, clinicians can optimize their patient outcomes, improve discharge planning, and justify the need for skilled services. This course will examine all aspects of motor learning related to stroke rehab, including historical perspectives, current trends, and novel strategies to determine which are the best options for clinical practice. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in critical analysis of neuroscience and clinical research, examine clinical application through case studies and group discussion, and develop strategies for practical implementation. By learning more about the most effective and evidence-based motor learning strategies, clinicians can immediately improve their clinical practice for patients post-stroke.
