Course overview

Occupational therapists can play a significant role in increasing the independence and quality of life of children with cerebral palsy. The occupational therapy assessment of children with cerebral palsy is complex and aims to identify their unique skills challenges and behaviours. Based on the assessment results occupational therapists select various therapeutic approaches to enable children with cerebral palsy to engage in meaningful activities from self-care to social activities with their families and friends. This course provides an overview of how occupational therapists approach the assessment of children with cerebral palsy and introduces some of the interventions they offer. This course aims to provide rehabilitation professionals with an appreciation of the occupational therapy approach to cerebral palsy rehabilitation.
