Course overview

As children participating in Part C/Early Intervention programs approach the age of 2.5 years, the transition process begins, often leading to nervousness and confusion. This clear, approachable, 1-hour, view-on-demand, recorded webinar provides therapists with background information on laws, timelines, and procedures regarding the transition process. More importantly, it gives many ideas and resources to help guide families and children through this sometimes overwhelming change. At the end of this course, you will be able to (1) state the difference between family-focused and child-focused service delivery models, and how the difference occurs during transition; (2) list three supports or resources that practitioners can provide parents in planning for upcoming changes; and (3) identify three strategies to help children transition smoothly to new settings and individuals. This distance-learning, independent format is offered at 0.1 CEUs, Introductory Level, OT Service Delivery, and targeted to pediatric therapists, educators, and parents working with children in the early intervention population.
