Course overview

According to the CDC, the incidence of stroke in the US rose between 2020 and 2021 (2023). Realizing occurrence rates are increasing and the severity of possible deficits following cerebrovascular accident (CVA) increasing the clinical skills of practitioners is vital to providing the best possible outcomes for our patients. This course aims to improve a clinician's confidence throughout the entire stroke pathway from infarct to discharge. This course will highlight the anatomy involved and how the location of the infarct can produce unique challenges for function in our clients. As deficits are defined, best practices for assessment and treatment options will be applied to set our clients up for the best possible position to achieve functional gains, restore confidence in their interactions with loved ones, safety with moving around their environments, and return to the activities they love.
