Course overview

People with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) face significant challenges in receiving quality healthcare. They are more likely to have complex medical needs and experience worse outcomes compared to the general population. People with IDD-related syndromes often require specialized care that goes beyond addressing their symptoms. Recognizing patterns of need related to a specific syndrome can improve coordination of care and patient outcomes. This course will focus on Angelman syndrome (AS). By the end of this course, you will be able to identify key health and nursing considerations for those with AS.
