Domestic Violence and the Elderly: 2 Hour Course

Course overview
This course is designed to help you gain a better understanding of domestic violence and the elderly. When thinking about domestic violence, the image of a young family often comes to mind. But, the truth is, abuse can happen at any age. Just like other kinds of abuse, elder abuse can take many different forms. Domestic violence isn't ageist. Seniors are just as susceptible as their younger generations to encounter abuse at the hands of an intimate partner. The only difference is, the public is much less likely to hear about it. Following this course, you should be able to recognize "red flags" of domestic violence in the elderly, as well as resources for more information. This course is written by Gwendolyn Green, LMHC MCAP LPC, co-owner and director of education of AA Ross Counseling, and is a licensed mental health clinician in Florida, Washington, and West Virginia.
