Course overview
The National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) is an essential tool in modern stroke care, providing a standardized method to evaluate neurological impairment and guide acute treatment decisions. With advancements in stroke management, including expanded treatment windows for mechanical thrombectomy and the evolving use of thrombolysis, accurate assessment of stroke severity is more critical than ever. Inconsistent application of the NIHSS can lead to delays in care, inappropriate interventions, or missed opportunities to improve patient outcomes.
