Course overview

Rehabilitation professionals regularly encounter complex situations that require careful ethical consideration. Effective ethical decision-making requires rehabilitation professionals to recognise sensitive situations understand the moral values at stake and consider relevant ethical principles professional obligations and regulations. The Realm-Individual Process-Situation (RIPS) Model of Ethical Decision Making provides a comprehensive framework that extends beyond traditional ethical approaches acknowledging that social and cultural values differ across healthcare settings. This model addresses ethical situations across individual organisational and societal realms while including important aspects of moral reasoning. This course aims to introduce participants to the components of the Realm-Individual Process-Situation (RIPS) Model of Ethical Decision Making and the steps to implement this framework.
