In this 4-hour course participants will learn how to implement the Activator Program for improving outcomes for balance, gait, strength, posture and to inspire active living. This evidence based program has been implemented in Canada since 2006 for rehabilitation of people with chronic conditions, including but not limited to; neurologic, orthopedic, and geriatric populations. This practical course includes; an introduction of the research on Nordic walking and Activator Poles for rehabilitation, the Activator technique developed for stability, the Nordic walking/urban poling technique for increasing intensity of walking for the general population or early stages of neurological conditions, and exercise examples (dynamic seated, standing and pre-gait exercises with poles) as effective treatment modalities for general and specific populations.
