Course overview
This course discusses what diabetes is and describes the four types, including type I, type II, gestational, and secondary diabetes. The most common risk factors and signs and symptoms are explained for each type, as well as a brief overview of possible complications and how to manage diabetes properly. The course explains the role of the endocrine system and the functions of the pancreas and insulin. Finally, the course concludes with a detailed description of how the CNA should care for the patient with diabetes while working within their scope of practice.
