Course overview

Physical therapy professionals in the acute setting must have the knowledge, confidence, and skill to provide safe and effective care for individuals who have undergone orthopedic surgery. This course will review guidelines for the evaluation and care of patients who have undergone hip, knee, or spine surgery, with a review of common postoperative precautions for specific surgical procedures. Additional topics include how to interpret key lab values for this population, the therapist's role in discharge planning, and current evidence-based guidelines for treatment.
