The first few years of a child's life are critical with the greatest growth in language and motor and brain development. Much of this growth is supported by caregivers and established through a loving, enriching environment. This can be a daunting task for any caregiver. But when delays, medical complications, new diagnosis, and disabilities are present, navigating these early years becomes more complex. As service providers for these young families, we are often their first introduction to the world of special needs. We can play a tremendous role by informing, supporting, encouraging, and empowering parents and in equipping them for the years ahead. This 90-minute. view-on-demand, recorded webinar honors the role of early childhood service providers and their unique place in the lives of caregivers by providing insight, resources, and strategies that can be easily and immediately used and shared. Topics include neuroaffirming practices, honoring cultural differences, and the 7 Key Practices for Early Intervention. At the end of this course, you will be able to (1) identify research-based neuroaffirming and culturally diverse best-practices, (2) state two strategies for using natural environments as a therapeutic setting, and (3) describe the five steps of successful Parent Coaching. This distance-learning, independent format is offered at 0.15 CEUs, Introductory Level, OT Service Delivery, and targeted to pediatric therapy professionals working with the early intervention population. The course instructor, Lori Benson Adams, MEd, is an educational intervention specialist and owner of Breakthrough Learning Solutions in Atlanta, Georgia.
