Course overview
This course covers the types of injuries that result from thoracic trauma, including those sustained from blunt and penetrating mechanisms of injury. These injuries account for approximately 25% of all trauma-related deaths (Weiser, 2024). You will learn how to identify thoracic injuries and provide effective care to reduce morbidity and mortality. The goal of this course is to equip EMS providers with essential knowledge about thoracic trauma, its clinical signs, and patient care strategies.
