Course overview

Discussion about interventions to improve sensations, with topics including a review of spinal cord anatomy and the basics of sensation, common interventions to treat sensory deficits, and toolbox skills for use when working with individuals with sensory impairments. Additional topics include the clinical context for sensation; the basics of sensation; neurologic tracts of sensation; spinal cord anatomy; common diagnoses with sensory loss; SENSe (study of the effectiveness of neurorehabilitation on sensation) therapy; and sensory interventions including constraint-induced movement therapy (CIMT), proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF), mirror therapy, weight bearing, robotic technology, and virtual reality.
