Integrating Measurement-Based Care Into Treatment

Course overview

Research suggests that measurement-based care can improve treatment decisions and outcomes. One way it can help is by identifying potential blind spots when clients are not progressing (Martin-Cook et al., 2021; Stringer, 2023). The framework of measurement-based care can be successfully used across client diagnoses as well as clinician theoretical orientations. However, despite the evidence of positive outcomes, less than 20% of behavioral health providers use measurement-based care to inform treatment plans (Lewis et al., 2019; Wright et al., 2020). This course will explore measurement-based care, what data can be gathered, and how that data can be integrated into clinical behavioral healthcare and inform the treatment process. Through a case analysis, you will also explore the benefits for clients, clinicians, and organizations and identify the challenges of implementing measurement-based care.
