Course overview
Discussion about dementia. Topics include the signs and symptoms of dementia in the home environment, emotional symptoms of dementia, physical symptoms and complaints of dementia, and normal forgetfulness and how that differs from worsening dementia. Treatment of geriatric dementia is difficult due to comorbidities and cognitive deterioration and articulating difficulties. Additionally, suboptimal clinical treatment received by aged patients makes them more susceptible to complications. This program discusses signs around the home that could indicate that an individual has dementia, as well as mental, physical, and psychological changes that can indicate dementia including normal and abnormal forgetfulness so that healthcare professionals can help to ensure best patient outcomes.
