Course overview

The world's population is continuing to age. Recent advances in healthcare have increased overall life expectancy; however, improvements in quality of life during the later years have not kept pace. Frailty is a dynamic condition where the body struggles to manage stressors due to depleted reserves and declines in multiple bodily systems. Regular screenings for frailty should be conducted to allow quicker identification and treatment of the condition when necessary. This course will review the effects of aging and provide an in-depth discussion on frailty in older adults. We will also explore the most recent evidence-based approaches for its management from a physical therapy perspective.
